During my perusal of this website and checking cemetery photos posted under PHOTO GALLERIES, I observed a copy of a photo that I took in the past and posted it to Commodore Ervin Family Search Profile along with several photos. The PHOTO GALLERIES copy of my photograph was posted by a SGTERVIN whom I do not know and there was no mention of credits for the originator of the photo, only that it was posted by that person. Is it proper for me to object to posting the photo without giving the originator credit?? Whomever posted the photo obviously obtained it from the Memories section of Family Search and probably never visited the graveyard. Is this plagiarism?? Or is this too trivial to mention ??

Commodore Ervin photo

I believe Sgt. Ervin is a descendant of Commodore Ervin and has been seeking any information for his own personal research.

Personally, I give credit (when I have the information) to the originator of the photo. However, I have shared many of the photos my father collected and posted them (giving my father credit). But, those flashing Ancestry.com leaves pop up...my father's photos I originally posted...without giving him credit. I hear my dad in my ear reminding me that none of us "own" our family history, we just are the caretakers and as such, are obligated to "share".

I would be grateful that my "work" meant that much to another family member. Thank you for sharing!!
