Proposed Scenerio

Because there is no documentation and sources scarce or non-existent and the information within this website, I will make the following observation as a possibility. Starting with Thomas Arvin (1725) possibly being the male parent of Samuel Arvin (name changed to Ervin) and a brother Robert Joseph Arvin (also changed name) plus some others like Henry, etc. (without accurate sources DOBs are adjusted to meet speculations). I suggest Samuel stayed in Ohio while Robert Joseph ventured on to Washington and Pendleton Counties of Kentucky, and further moving on to Indiana. While in Pendleton County (and after changing his name to Ervin like his brother) had a large family (as was the practice during that era) creating the possible family as follows: Thomas, DOB 1795 (now credited to Samuel) John, DOB 1805 (also credited to Samuel) Andrew Jackson DOB 1812, Commodore Sr (the latter two not credited yet with parents) and even possibly extending to Isaac William DOB 1822) (son of Sarah Ervin). This scenario takes recorded sons from Samuel, but are they his ?? It is hard to deny Samuel, Jr is. (No sources)
From 1795 (DOB of Thomas) to 1822 DOB of Isaac William) is only 27 years and well within the possibility of being born to one male parent ..........Robert Joseph Arvin(Ervin), who was known to have been residing in that area and migrating to Indiana (where sources place A.J. and Commodore). This is, of course, speculation......but all the information comes from LOB (Ervinhistory.com)
Recent DNA results (known) have proven there is a linkage between these peoples but no sources are available for proof or disproof. I am not advocating anything be made of this suggestion and that any records be changed reflecting this
Hi John,
I think your theory has merit. It took me 10 years to prove with documentation that Samuel was Owen's father. Until that happened, I could only say that I speculated that he was Owen's father because we found him living in his household in the censuses.
I'm hopeful that we will eventually find documentation through newly released birth and/or death records that will give us actual relationship details that DNA doesn't provide. All DNA can do is tell us they are strongly related or not.
Commodore is such an intriguing character to me because the name is so different, possibly even being a nickname, which is why he is so difficult to locate using traditional methods.
Where Indiana is concerned, are you suggesting that perhaps AJ and Commodore are sons of Robert Joseph?

John,
Has your recent DNA test results come back yet?
