William Lyons and Elizabeth Markins death certificates

Back from OHS and copied both William Lyons and Elizabeth Markins death certificates.
William's lists Jacob Lyon as his father and Granville Lyons as the informant. Mother's Maiden Name has nothing listed at all, just a line drawn through it. Sad
Elizabeth Markins lists Jacob Lyons as father and Mother's Name only lists "Irwin"

Well, actually, if Margaret were Owen's daughter, her mother would have to be Deborah. Margaret is born in 1837 and Owen didn't marry Louisa until 1850. (A new step-mother might be a good reason to visit Grandma and Grandpa that year)
Owen's household in 1840:
Owen Ervin, M: 1<5 yrs, 1 5-9 yrs, 1 20-29 yrs F: 2<5, 1 15-219 yrs, 1 20-29 yrs
Vinton, Milton, and Lydia are all accounted for but there are two females that are not, 1<5 and 1 15-19 yrs. Just wondering if the younger one is Margaret.
Have you seen any of Owen's children's death certificates? Perhaps one of them also lists their father's name as "Wm Owen". That would definitely be a clue.
Vinton died in 1916 and all of Owen's children by Louisa died after 1909, the year Ohio death certificates started asking for parents names, so I think that would be a good place to start looking.
Also, there is a Henry Ervin listed in the 1900 Jasper county MO census married to a Sarah E. (I actually thought I got that info from you.)
Perhaps you could get her death certificate or that of one of her children and it will list her maiden name. Probably one of the kids' would be more likely to have it.
Well, I just found the death certificate of Sarah E., wife of Henry Clinton Ervin. (Thanks, Amy, for the link to the Missouri death certificates.) She was the daughter of Samuel and Rebecca Brown and was born in Lee county Iowa, 13 Mar 1848 and died in Carterville, Jasper, Missouri 12 Feb 1925. I'll post the image of the death certificate in that forum.

That's what we were looking for though; for one of the kids to state that their mother's maiden name was Ervin. Thanks so much for your trouble. I think I will post a visual of their family.

You know, I've been thinking about Margaret's certificate again and I remembered something Willis Ervin had said to me. He said something about thinking Jane's maiden name may have been Owen. Perphaps Margaret was a granddaughter of Samuel and Jane, the daughter of a son of their's named William, middle name Owen for his mother's maiden name.
Or maybe Margaret really is the daughter of Owen (any chance his first name was William?) and was just staying with her grandparents in the 1850 census. The 1840 cenus shows Owen with 2 females <5yrs and Lydia's the only one I have a name for. I do agree that her statement of her father's birthplace as WV is a problem with this theory.
